If you have planned a wedding with a nature theme or perhaps your wedding theme will take on the season in which it falls, then you have the perfect opportunity to give your guests some delightful nature inspired wedding favors.

Many modern brides are looking for wedding favors that not only reflect the style of their wedding & their own personality, but which are also unique & individual gifts which will delight their guests. Hand crafted favors are a popular choice, along with creative details & personalization.

Here are some ideas for nature inspired wedding favors:

Dried or fresh flowers: mini arrangements or corn dollies decorated with flower buds & foliage. Or try mini terracotta pots planted with violets or other small plants.

Seeds or Bulbs: Plantable wedding favors are a popular choice & are widely available in many different designs. A small box containing flower bulbs (2 or 3 depending on size) is a great choice. Make sure you include planting instructions as well!

Tree Seedlings: These are becoming a popular choice amongst couples looking to give a gift that will be ever lasting. Visit your local garden centre & ask about buying some small seedlings which you can plant in individual pots. Once home your guests can choose a plot to plant them in.

Food Favors: Give favors drawing on natures own bounty, such as nuts, fruit, honey or syrup. Or give favors made from natural/organic ingredients, such as cake, cider, wine or chocolate.

Nature Inspired Designs: There is a wealth of wedding favors with nature inspired designs. Try leaf shaped bookmarks or bottle stoppers; Butterflies or birds; Small wooden ornaments or toys. Or look for small bars of handmade soaps or votive candles made with all natural ingredients.

When it comes to your packaging, try to match the favor to it. Small favor boxes made from recycled card are becoming very popular & eco-conscious companies are producing an ever expanding range of colors & designs. Use little favor bags made from cotton or sisal as an alternative.

Bamboo Wedding Favors

If you are thinking of Asian theme weddings or are looking for wedding favors with a difference, then a bamboo favor is a great choice. Bamboo is a symbol of good luck & represents the gratitude & appreciation which you want your wedding favors to convey.

A bamboo wedding favor is also a stylish choice & one which can bring a Zen like quality to your tables. If bamboo favors appeal to you, then here are some of the choices available.

§ Bamboo coasters

§ Placecard holders

§ Mini Bamboo plants in pots

§ Mini steamers

§ Candles in hollowed out pieces of bamboo

The miniature bamboo steamers are a wonderful way to give confectionary favors to your guests. They look wonderful filled with chocolates or candy & tied with a ribbon & thank you tag. Once the confectionary has been eaten, your guests will be left with a useful little container.

Bamboo is an evergreen which makes it a great favor for fall or winter where it can serve as a reminder to your guests of warmer climates. Small potted bamboo plants are wonderful everlasting wedding favor which your guests can enjoy year round. Choose pots which match your color scheme & cover the soil with matching colored stones or river rocks.

Within Chinese spirituality bamboo is said to be a source of positive energy & a gift of bamboo will bring your guests good luck. It is worth noting though that a plant called Lucky Bamboo isn’t a bamboo at all but is actually a variety of lilly.

If you want to give living stalks of bamboo as wedding favors it is worth trying to buy them in bulk as it will cost you less. Buying 4” stalks by the case can work out at around $0.15 each. Check out your local Asian stores, garden centers or online for some good deals.

When you buy them make sure they all look healthy. You don’t want to be presenting your guests with a dead wedding favor! Check the roots at the bottom & that the leaves a bright green color with no yellow patches. Also check for any bruising & that they are free from insects.

Whilst you can buy bamboo stalks already potted & ready to go, you may wish to make your own bamboo wedding favors which you can personalize & make unique. Making your own will be the cheaper option compared to buying them already potted. However you should factor in the amount of time you will need to make them up.

Adding a different number of stalks to a pot is said to symbolize different kinds of luck, which gives you the option of creating wedding favors which are personalized to your guests. See below for details:

§ 2 stalks- a symbol of love (Many couples opt for this choice)

§ 3 or 6 stalks- a symbol of happiness

§ 5 or 7 stalks- a symbol of health

§ 8 stalks- a symbol of wealth

After you have potted them write out little thank you tags explaining the symbolism of bamboo & the meaning behind the number of stalks in the pot. Also include some care instructions.

Whatever you decide on for your bamboo wedding favors you can be sure that you are giving your guests a gift with meaning & symbolism, the thought behind which your guests will appreciate.
