How to Save Money on your Wedding Favors
With the current economic seeing many people having to tighten their belts, many couples have to be creative with their wedding planning to save money on the cost of their wedding. Many may think to forgo their wedding favors altogether as these can add up to a significant portion of the wedding budget particularly if the wedding is large.
But this is a mistake. Never forgo your wedding favors to spend the money on something else. Many of your guests will expect to receive them and they are a gesture of thank to your guests from yourselves for joining you on your special day. They are also an important detail on your reception tables, helping to coordinate and unify your chosen color scheme and theme.
If your budget is tight there are several ways in which you can cut the costs of your wedding favors, whilst still delighting your guests with an adorable little gift.
Candy is by far the cheapest option for favors and a selection of candies in a small box or voile bag is achievable for around $1 each. If you use boxes you can decorate them with ribbons and personalized labels to give your favors a more stylish appearance.
Give one favor between two, such as giving couples a bottle stopper or set of drinks coasters. You will of course have to give one each to your single guests, but you will make significant savings by giving one between two, meaning you can indulge in favors at the higher end of the market.
Set up a candy bar with a range of candies and chocolates and let your guests help themselves to their favors. You can provide some small bags and scoops so that those want them can pick their own. You could say this is the wedding version of pick n’ mix! You can buy a great range of confectionary from a wholesaler for very little expense and then beg, borrow and steal some decorative jars, dishes and bowls to display them in.
Finally, there is one, if somewhat cheeky, way to cut your favor costs. This works by only buying as many as you can afford including the packaging, this may or may not be enough for everyone. But it is a fact that not everyone will want a favor, no matter what it is, so if you pile your favors up on a table by the door, those that want one can take one and those that don’t can bypass them without feeling obliged to have one.
